Together with my client we planted-up all the borders back in November 2019. Now this mature Letchworth garden has really put its stride on.. what with the endless rain early spring and intense heat in May ~ the perennials are all a bit ahead of schedule.
The Geum ‘Mrs J Bradshaw’ really are the stars of the show in the ‘hot border’ at the moment. Whilst the ferns and hostas in the retreat garden are magnificant in a completely different way.
I do love designing planting schemes for diversity and this garden has plenty of it ~ a majestic lawn flanked by curving pathway and borders which lead to a retreat garden with onlooking Buddha.
I took these photos 6 months after planting-up, on a very sunny early June day ~ hard to believe that this garden was planted-up on a cool November day, with saturated clay borders, that we were working hard to get the plants settled into.
Plants know exactly what to do and how to do it!
