Planting schemePlanting design begins with planning and careful consideration of all the plants to be used in the design. Planting-up a scheme, after months of planning is a deep felt joy ~ especially during these very difficult times.

I am so very grateful that as a freelance garden designer, I can work from home and plant-up schemes in clients’ garden (whilst working within the current Government’s guidelines ~ to preserve my own health and others). Keeping a distance between myself and my clients and colleagues means we work with presence-of-mind whilst creating a beautiful garden.

I have to say that I do truly love all aspects of the job.. and none more so, than when I actually have the real-life plants in my hands and I’m plundering the soil to make space for new, beautiful life.

These planting plans were creating with a sub-tropical feel for clients who want to enjoy their garden without worrying too much about it ~ these hardy perennials, know exactly what to do and will put on good growth over the next season.

Suppliers are closing their trade counters and so we are currently waiting for summer-flowering perennial stock to become available again. So glad to have been able to put in the structure plants with lots of evergreens, such as, Phormium ‘Chocomint’, Phyllostachys nigra (black bamboo), Trachycarpus fortunei (Chusan palm) and Fatsia japonica ‘Spider’s Web, to name but a few..

Wishing you well!
