Acer palmatum ‘Osakazuki’ is a magnificent feature tree for a small garden. With wonderful autumn leaf colour, finely divided, elegant and lyrical in form. This small garden tree can either be planted into the ground or grown in a large container. Do take care to monitor water and not a plant which enjoys strong sunshine. Keep out of drying winds and you will have a happy, healthy specimen plant.
I featured this beautiful small ornamental tree for a courtyard garden design in Baldock – where the planting design had a semi-formal feel with a twist. The twist came in the form of topiary cubes and globes using Box {Buxus sempervirens} which I combined in the main border with perennial classics.
Placing a small feature tree in a courtyard garden really adds a focal and talking point for all to enjoy. The large pot works so well in this design and my clients absolutely love it!
