canna-bengal-tiger-w-nice-flower-and-foliage.i-0819.s-16315.r-01How exciting to have been newly commissioned to produce a Tropical themed plants list and planting plan for clients in Highams Park, North East London. My first of the year.. look what the pre-spring sunshine can do!

I have selected beautiful but hardy plants very capable of growing and thriving in our ever changing uk climate. Some of these plants can withstand temperatures dropping as low as -6 degrees. My client’s garden is small and sheltered so I have decided to create the tropical feel using large leaved specimens to add height and drama to the available space.. which is only 3m by 3m. I shall be using the upper space to great effect and allow for layering of planting by underplanting with colour and texture coming up through the larger leaved specimens.

As you can probably guess I do feel lit up about this project and delighted to be discovering plants that I haven’t worked with before. The plants list is a work in progress but currently the plants list includes: Canna ‘Phasion’, Ethiopian banana and a bi-coloured Pineapple Lily.. just to get your gardening taste buds started..
