In contrast, I recently designed a garden where the childrens’ needs were one of the top priorities for the family garden.
Having fun through natural play is great for children, encouraging active play outdoors is very much an issue these days. We all know the lure of mobile phones and gaming keeps our children inside the home for hours on end.
In this garden design I have used lots of bright colours and opportunities for play whilst providing a place for shelter from the elements. Brightly coloured acrylic cubes were placed either side of a garden arch, which can be used as seating or for stacking and climbing.
The colourful ground cover is made up of large astro turf squares, which double up as a giant outdoor games board. And for those rainy days when the kids don’t want to be stuck inside, I’ve placed a lovely outdoor wooden shelter at the back of the play area, which can be filled with toys and games.
