Buxus sempervirensThis is such an enduring plant.. used throughout garden history in the grounds of stately homes and gardens across the lands. A very versatile plant, despite the onslaught of Box blight.. this plant remains a firm favourite for its architectural qualities, topiary and of course being evergreen.

An all year presence certainly earns its place in the home garden. Ticks the box for the frequently requested ‘low maintenance’ gardening, although requires a few good clippings across the year, all done by autumn and remains in place throughout winter.

I recently designed a garden where I used Box balls in a garden retreat, which echoed the circular paving kit on the ground with 3 dimensional globes.. worked a treat and clients love them!
